Park Lawn Blood Drive Collects 28 Lifesaving Blood Products for Local Patients

OAK LAWN, IL — Community members rolled up their sleeves and made a meaningful impact during Park Lawn's American Red Cross Blood Drive held on June 22, resulting in 28 blood products collected to help patients in need.

The event welcomed 28 donors, including 14 first-time donors who chose to give blood for the very first time. Donors contributed 13 Power Red donations and 15 Whole Blood donations, helping strengthen the region's blood supply during a time when donations are critically needed.

Hosted at Park Lawn's Oak Lawn campus, the blood drive brought together donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners for a day focused on saving lives and supporting those facing medical emergencies, surgeries, cancer treatments, and other serious health conditions.

"Every donor who participated made a difference," said Mark Dynia, Marketing & Community Relations Manager for Park Lawn. "The generosity we witnessed throughout the day demonstrates the strength and compassion of our community. These donations will help provide hope and healing for patients and families throughout our region."

In addition to the blood drive, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about organ and tissue donation from representatives of the Illinois Secretary of State's Life Goes On Organ/Tissue Donor Program, who provided educational resources and information about the lifesaving impact of donor registration.

Park Lawn also extends its gratitude to Lou Malnati's Pizzeria, which generously provided pizza for donors, volunteers, and staff, helping create a welcoming atmosphere throughout the event.

The organization also recognized the American Red Cross collection team and the many volunteers whose efforts helped make the event a success.

Founded in 1955, Park Lawn is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through residential services, vocational opportunities, day programs, and community engagement.
