Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle In Metra Accident Dies
The 19-year-old man was waiting to cross 87th Street and Pulaski when he was hit by a vehicle that had been struck by a train.
HOMETOWN, IL — A pedestrian hit by a car that had been struck by a train died Friday afternoon. The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the pedestrian as 19-year-old Christopher Davis.
Davis was waiting to cross the intersection near 87th Street and Pulaski Road on Feb. 12. The railroad crossing gate went down on the trunk of a vehicle. When the vehicle tried to go into reverse to get off the tracks, it drove into the path of a Metra commuter train. The train hit the car, which struck Davis, who became pinned under the train.
Emergency crews extricated three people inside the vehicle, who were also taken to area hospitals in critical condition.

Four collision accidents have occurred at the 87th Street and Pulaski Road railroad cross, NBC Chicago reported.
In December 2015, two women were killed when a Metra train slammed into their car. Like the collision on Feb. 12, conditions were snowy and the vehicle became caught on the tracks after the gate closed as the train approached.
