Pediatrician in Oak Lawn Prescribes Play

Alzein Pediatrics of Oak Lawn is working to ensure that children have plenty of unstructured playtime incorporated into their day.

Alzein Pediatrics of Oak Lawn along with the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn is working to ensure that children have plenty of unstructured playtime incorporated into their day.

Dr. Alzein will be writing a “Prescription for Play” for all new patients so when they feel better, they can enjoy some time playing at the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn. “Partnering with the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn helps us reach families to communicate the importance of play in your child’s development,” said Dr. Alzein, owner of Alzein Pediatrics.

“Play helps the brain make connections between nerve cells, which helps develop gross and fine motor skills in younger children. Play stimulates your child’s imagination, which means they will be more creative, innovative and productive as adults. Play improves executive functioning, your child’s ability to plan and organize, manage time, meet deadlines and handle details. Additionally, play helps children react and behave more appropriately in social situations, make stronger friendships and have better self-control,” Dr. Alzein points out.
