Police Investigate Possible Shooting At Oak Lawn Intersection

Oak Lawn village official says shell casings were found at 91st Street and Central Avenue. Dispute may have started in Bridgeview.

A dispute between two or more parties that started at a Bridgeview Walmart ended with shots being fired at 91st Street and Central Avenue in Oak Lawn, according to a village official.

Preliminary reports indicate that an argument took place at or near the Walmart store at 10260 S. Harlem Ave., Bridgeview, Wednesday evening, said Larry Deetjen, village manager of Oak Lawn.

The parties chased each other in their vehicles through Burbank. Shots were fired at a vehicle at 91st Street and Central Avenue intersection.

The person or persons in the vehicle that got hit drove to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, without notifying local police.

Deetjen said that a Chicago police officer overheard a conversation between medical staff and the subjects about the incident. The Chicago police officer then notified the Oak Lawn Police Department.

Oak Lawn police taped off the street for several hours , clearing it around 10 p.m.

Deetjen said that shell casings were found at the intersection. He did not know what time the incident occurred because the involved parties drove to the hospital without notifying local police.

The condition of the person or persons at Christ Medical Center is unknown at this time. Information is preliminary.

It is not known if anyone is in custody or what the altercation was about.
