Officers talked to the resident, who allegedly admitted there was a “small amount” of cannabis in the apartment. A search uncovered 60 grams of cannabis, 25 Xanax pills, an illegal firearm loaded with ammunition, assorted drug paraphernalia and $409 cash, according to the officers.

All three men inside the apartment were arrested, including:

  • Malik EL-Thames,18, of 12744 S Kenneth Ave. Alsip. Charged with misdemeanor unlawful use/possession of a weapon, no firearm owner ID (FOID) and possession of 15 grams of cannabis.
  • Robert Harris, 57, of 12255 S. 44th Pl. Alsip. Charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

The third man, Alexander Harris, 28, was charged with felony possession of 45 grams of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, which included two black metal pipes and assorted dime bags.

The younger Harris appeared with his attorney for a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon before Cook County Judge Peter Felice.

The attorney told the judge that Harris came back from California and was presently staying with his father to take care of his dad’s high blood pressure.

Harris added in court that he had a medical prescription for the cannabis, which is legal in California, but his medical marijuana ID card had expired.

Judge Felice released Harris on a $10,000 I-Bond. Harris is to submit to random drug testing as condition of bond.

“Next time someone offers you a blunt or something to snort or a needle, don’t do it,” the judge said, “or I will revoke your bond and put you in jail.”

Harris is due back in court in Bridgeviwe on April 5.

K9 Eddie is an eight-year veteran of the Alsip Police Department.
