Police Raid On Oak Lawn Condo Produces 500 Grams of Pot: COPS
Man kept ledger recording various pot sales, prosecutor said.

OAK LAWN, IL -- Police found 500 grams of cannabis during an early morning raid at an Oak Lawn man’s condominium, prosecutors said. Steven Lopez, 32, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on felony charges of manufacture and delivery of cannabis and possession of cannabis. He is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the charges, Oak Lawn police executed a search warrant around 5 a.m. Nov. 14 at Lopez’s condo in the 9500 block of Southwest Highway. Police found 500 grams of suspected cannabis, a scale, and a ledger recording various pot sales, the prosecutor said. The children were reportedly home during the raid and Lopez was charged with child endangerment.
Lopez was charged with manufacture and delivery of cannabis in 2007, for which he received two years’ probation. The prosecutor said Lopez was also sentenced to probation for a 2005 unlawful use of a weapon misdemeanor conviction.

Lopez’s attorney said his client works steadily as a construction worker. He said Lopez’s other charges were over ten years old and asked for a reasonable bond.
“How much can he come up with,” Felice asked. “All that marijuana has to cost something.”

Bail was set at $5,000. The judge also ordered Lopez to submit to weekly drug testing.
“Today you’re going to drop urine and if it’s hot, that’s okay,” Felice said. “The levels better be down next week. Your days of smoking that crap are over.”
Lopez is due back in court Dec. 11 in Bridgeview.
