Pop Culture Fans Unite Saturday For OLPL Fan Fest
The Oak Lawn Public Library will host the popular Fan Fest featuring all genres of pop culture Saturday, May 11 for cosplay, comics and more
OAK LAWN, IL — Free comics, cartooning classes, cosplay competitions, miniature painting, all-day photobooth and an exhibit hall showcasing local artists, vendors, organizations and collectors will gather for the Oak Lawn Public Library’s highly popular annual celebration of pop culture. OLPL Fan Fest runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the library, 9427 S. Raymond Ave.
The free event will feature a performance by the Raks Geek Wookiee Bellydancers, cosplay competitions, DIY galaxy jars, miniature painting, an all-day photobooth and an exhibit hall showcasing local artists, vendors, organizations and collectors.
Mark Anderson, also known as Andertoons, will lead a cartoon drawing class for young artists. Kids can also get airbrush tattoos, participate in a scavenger hunt and take pictures with some familiar faces during the space character meet and greet.
Throughout the day, teens can enjoy tabletop games, along with additional outdoor activities such as morning sessions of the mobile escape room and an afternoon visit from the GameTruck. Keep an eye out for special surprises, like a chance to see the Batmobile.
OLPL Fan Fest 2024 is presented by the Friends of the Library and sponsored by Alive Church, Bookie’s Book Store, Express Med Spa, Galloping Ghost Arcade, Image Comics, JB’s Pops, Mendez McDonald’s, Olivia Carpenter Real Estate, and Oni Press. Comics are provided by Blerds Undergound.
