Prisoner Escapes Police Custody Wearing Hospital Gown: WARRANT

Schaumburg man charged with drug offense was being treated at hospital when he escaped, cops said.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL -- A man under arrest for a drug charge allegedly escaped police custody while being treated at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Police said he was still wearing a hospital gown when he ran away.

Bridgeview police were in court seeking an arrest warrant for Mark Flores-Tobar, 29, of Schaumburg. The detective told the judge that Flores-Tobar was picked up April 29 on a retail theft charge at the Bridgeview Kmart. Flores-Tobar allegedly gave a false name. Police said they also found cocaine in his sock.

Flores-Tobar was being treated at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He was supposed to be released back into police custody but fled the hospital, the detective said.

The prosecutor said Flores-Tobar is currently on probation. The judge issued a warrant for $50,000.
