Richards graduate Jordan Moeller to host One Skate benefit on Saturday

Richards High School graduate Jordan Moeller, the 2014 U.S. Figure Skating silver medalist in the Men’s Junior Division, will host the third annual fund raiser for Children’s Oncology Services, Inc. (COSI) on Saturday, April 5.

This event benefits One Step at a Time, a summer camp for children and teenagers in treatment for cancer.  Children's Oncology Services sponsors the summer camp.

Southwest Ice Arena, which has donated its facility for the event, will host the fund raiser from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children age 5 and younger.

Sanctioned by the U.S. Figure Skating Association and the Northern Ice Skating Club, the event will feature performances by many accomplished skaters.  Their biographies appear in the program posted with this story.

Moeller, an Oak Lawn native who graduated from Richards in May 2013, today trains full time in Colorado Springs while taking college classes on-line. 

In addition to the silver medal this year, Moeller won the 2010 U.S. Figure Skating national championship in the Men’s Intermediate Division.  He placed ninth in the world last month at the International Skating Union World Junior Championships.
