Richards teacher joins the 3%

Richards High School social studies teacher Joyce Cruse recently completed the arduous process of becoming a National Board Certified Teacher from the National Board from Professional Teaching Standards.

Criteria included a year of monthly cohort meetings, writing 80- pages of reflection and analysis, submitting multiple videotapes of instructional delivery, and a passing a three-hour essay exam.  Just three percent of American teachers earn this distinction.

Through this set of videos, which profiles a 'jigsaw' seminar in an Advanced Placement U.S. History course Cruse teaches, we hope the community will gain a sense of the quality that she brings to Richards each day.
