Richards wins SSC Red championship in girls tennis

First conference title in program history!

The varsity girls tennis team from Richards High School won the South Suburban Conference Red Division championship last weekend. This is the first girls tennis conference championship in program history.

Highlights included:

Junior Kayla McSweeney won the South Suburban Conference Red Division tennis championship at #1 Singles for the second consecutive season. So far this season she is 22-1 overall with perfect records of 13-0 in the SSC and 7-0 in the SSC Red. At the conference meet she lost just two games (beating the player from Oak Lawn 6-2, 6-0 in the semifinal and the player from Reavis 6-0, 6-0 in the championship match.)

Ana Sutko and Joanna Lupa won the South Suburban Conference Red Division championship at #2 Doubles this weekend. Ana and Joanna did not lose in conference play (12-0 SSC, 6-0 Red, and now conference champs!)

Nada Hinnawi and Monika Mikszewicz won the South Suburban Conference Red Division championship at #3 Doubles this weekend. Their win (the second SSC Red title in a row for Nada at third doubles) over Reavis, the top seed, "was the upset of the tournament," said coach Connor Reynolds.

Freshman Meghan McSweeney took second place at #2 Singles at the South Suburban Conference Red Division tournament. Meghan has posted a record of 18-5 overall (and sterling conference records of 12-1 in the SSC and 6-1 in the Red). "Meghan starts off her Richards career off on the right foot earning her team 4 points at conference," said coach Connor Reynolds.
