Ruger-Packing Home Healthcare Worker Claims Pot and Pills Were for Patients: Prosecutor

Justice police found medications and gun in glovebox during traffic stop, prosecutor said.

A home health care worker was arrested after police found a loaded gun in her glove box and medications prescribed to other people in her car during a traffic stop, prosecutors said.

According to the charges, Georgina Cesar, 27, was stopped by Justice police in the 7200 block of South LaGrange Road for driving on a suspended license around 12:47 p.m. March 17.

While searching her vehicle, police found a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun in the glovebox. Police also found 5 grams of cannabis in her purse and five capsules of Adderall that were prescribed to a person other than herself, prosecutors said.

Cesar’s attorney told the judge that the medications found in her vehicle were for her home health care patients, including the medical marijuana, which she kept so she could monitor her patient’s usage.

The gun belonged to Cesar, who carried it in her car because she “had to drive through bad neighborhoods.” She had a FOID card but did not have a conceal carry permit, her attorney said.

The judge issued a $25,000 I-bond and ordered her to submit to random drug testing while her case is pending.

Cesar’s next court hearing is April 17 in Bridgeview.
