Drugged Driver Arrested Driving On Three Tires: Police
The man admitted he was taking the prescription drug Clonazepam twice a day and had taken that before driving and had been drinking.
RIVERSIDE, IL — A North Riverside man was arrested for drugged driving after his car was found stopped in the middle of the road with only three tires, police said. An officer on patrol came across the car, which was stopped in the inner lane of traffic at 31st Street and First Avenue, at 12:18 a.m. Oct. 18.
Police said the car had one missing tire and the rim had been shattered. The officer conducted a traffic stop, and approached the driver, Raymond Schroeder, 42. Police said the officer asked why Schroeder was stopped in the middle of the road and he said he was out of gas and trying to push the car home. The officer asked about the missing tire, and Schroeder couldn't give an explanation.
According to police, the officer could smell alcohol and Schroeder also appeared to be displaying signs of impairment for drugs. Schroeder failed all field sobriety testing, and was arrested for drugged driving. He was taken to the police station, where he refused to take the breathalyzer or participate in the drug prescription field sobriety testing.

“As the holidays approach, I assure you that alcohol and drug DUI arrests will skyrocket," Chief Thomas Weitzel said in a release. "This arrest is a clear example of the shift occurring in Cook County and throughout the United States when it comes to impaired driving. Local police are running across more drugged drivers than ever. I highly encourage drivers to designate a sober driver, or use a ride-share service to and from holiday events.”
