Sandy Berg Posts Perfect SSC Season In OLCHS Girls Singles Tennis

OAK LAWN, IL — Transitioning from a doubles girls tennis player to the top singles player is a huge challenge, but Oak Lawn Community High School’s Sandy Berg did it, and she did it perfectly. The senior went 10-0 in South Suburban Conference dual meets this fall. That performance earned her the distinction of being named September Athlete of the Month by the athletic department for OLCHS.

“Some of Sandy’s victories had to go to a third set, but one in particular against Lemont stands out as Sandy had to overcome being down a set to force a third set tiebreaker with the sun going down,” said OLCHS head tennis coach Dan Doyle. “She has been our leader from day one. She leads the team not only with her spirit, but she definitely also leads by example. She will be next to impossible to replace next year.”
