Santa On the Green and Shop Oak Lawn Kick Off Holiday Season
Oak Lawn celebrates the beginning of the holiday season Nov. 25 with Santa On the Green and Small Business Saturday.

OAK LAWN, IL -- Santa, Mrs. Claus and their bff Frosty will be making their grand entrance on Oak Lawn’s Village Green the Saturday after Thanksgiving on Nov. 25. The family winter frolic is FREE and runs from noon to 3 p.m. Santa on the Green marks the official start of the 2017 holiday season.
The big three -- Santa, Mrs. C and Frosty -- will be arriving in an Oak Lawn fire truck where they will be hearing children’s wishes in the Gazebo. Gingerbread and Christmas Eve the reindeer will also be popping in. Other featured activities include an ice carving demonstration, children’s Ferris wheel, bounce house, inflatable snow globe and choo choo train. Our tall friend the Elf stilt walker has also confirmed his appearance.
Sward and Kolmar School choruses will be singing Christmas carols from noon to 1 p.m. inside a heated tent, followed by Fermata D Aria, who will be performing a cappella holiday songs from 1 to 3 p.m.

Stroll over to the Oak Lawn Public Library to visit Shops of Oak Lawn, take part in a scavenger hunt and photo booth. Families can also take a free trolley ride from over to the Oak Lawn Metra station for Small Business Saturday. There, the Chamber of Commerce’s Shop Oak Lawn tent will be hosting face painting, food vendors, a balloon twister and live music, from noon to 3 p.m.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photo ops so get your smartphones out for some pix of your kids with Santa and the Missus. Oak Lawn’s Village Green is located north of the public library at 94th Street and Cook Avenue.
