Scarf-Covered Bandit Sticks Up Stickney Bank: FBI

Alleged bandit's face was concealed by scarf when he knocked over TCF bank branch inside Jewel-Osco store, FBI says.

STICKNEY, IL -- A man of average build all bundled up for the cold weather held up a Stickney bank late Wednesday afternoon, the FBI said.

The purported bandit entered the TCF bank branch inside the Jewel-Osco store at 7122 W. 40th St. around 5:28 p.m. Dec. 14. No weapon was shown and the heist is being described as a non-takeover robbery, according to the FBI-run website BanditTrackerChicago.

The suspect was described as a male black in his late twenties to early thirties, around 5-feet-9-inches with a medium build. Witnesses said he was wearing a dark green winter coat, dark colored baseball cap and dark colored pants. His face was covered by a black and white plaid scarf.

Anyone who recognizes the individual or has knowledge of the robbery is asked to call the FBI’s Chicago office at 312-421-6700. A reward is being offered.
