School District 123 Kindergarten Student Honored
Aiden Bond recognized for exceptional achievement in using assistive technology to communicate.

Aiden Bond, a non-speaking District 123 kindergarten student from Miss Dow's CASE classroom, was recently honored at the 38th annual Outstanding Technology Achievement Awards dinner & celebration at Gaelic Park. The awards program aims to recognize the achievements of learners who attend schools in the Infinitec Southwest Coalition area and have demonstrated exceptional accomplishment in overcoming obstacles and achieving personal goals using technology.
Aiden's nomination was submitted by Speech Pathologist Mrs. Julie Carey, Mrs. Janet Kennedy, and classroom teacher Ms. Samantha Dow. After being reviewed by a committee, he was selected as one of twelve students to receive the award this year. Despite being non-speaking, Aiden's communication skills and eagerness to explore his device and learn new words are evident. He frequently comments on things he observes in his environment and requests for new words to be added to his device by his speech pathologist.
Aiden's story is a testament to how technology can empower individuals with disabilities and enable them to overcome challenges.
