Security Guard Calls Cops on Thief, Gets Himself Arrested: Police
A Mariano's security guard is arrested on an active warrant while helping police investigate an unrelated retail theft, reports say.

Oak Lawn, IL, June 8, 2016 -- A supermarket security guard who had given his state ID to police for an unrelated retail theft investigation was found to have an active warrant, reports said.
Oak Lawn police responded to a report of a retail theft around 5:39 p.m. May 28 at Mariano’s, 11100 S. Cicero Ave.
When officers arrived, they spoke to the store’s security officer, Carlos Fernandez, 40, of Lockport.

Police said Fernandez provided his state ID to list in the report and a “reporting person.” When officers ran the security officer's ID through leads, they learned that Fernandez had an active arrest warrant, reports said.
Illinois State Police confirmed that Fernandez was wanted for allegedly resisting a peace officer out of Oak Brook. Bail set on the warrant was $25,000.

Fernandes was taken into police custody. He was held pending a bond hearing.
