Senior Citizen Shoves Suspicious Good Samaritan Out of Home: Cops
Oak Lawn cops said man rang two older residents' doorbell and offered to shovel their driveway for free.

OAK LAWN, IL -- A Good Samaritan offering to shovel people’s driveways for free tried to force his way into a residence but the older homeowner shoved him out of her house, reports said.
Oak Lawn police responded to the area of 109th Street and Cook Avenue for a report of suspicious activity around 4 p.m. Dec. 17, The caller said a man in a brown jacket was standing in her garage offering to shovel her driveway for free.
Police met with the two older residents who said that a man rang their doorbell and told them he was shoveling driveways for free. The man opened the overhead garage door and the service door to the house and told the residents to bring him a bucket of hot water from the kitchen so he could start “mixing salt,” reports said.

While one of the seniors did so, the other stayed at the door. When the man tried to enter the home, she shoved the man into the garage. Police said he did not get into the house. The man left in an unknown direction. The senior also noted that the man was carrying a shovel more suitable for landscaping than shoveling snow.
Police said the seniors also noticed a gray SUV parked in front of their home. They could not tell if it was occupied. They did not see the man arrive or leave in the vehicle.

The snow-shoveler is described as a male Hispanic in his late 20s to early 30s, around 5-feet-7-inches with a thin build, wearing a brown or gray jacket. He was reported as clean shaven and spoke with an accent.
