Serenity Family Outreach 'Recovery Rocks' 5K Springs from the Blocks Sept. 20
Join Serenity's 'Recovery Rocks' Family 5K this Sunday at Klein (Circle) Park. Lots of family fun planned including a free post-party.

Serenity Family Outreach invites one and all to its family 5K Run/Walk taking this place this Sunday, Sept. 20, starting at 1 p.m.
The race starts and ends at Klein (Circle) Park, 97th Street and Homan Avenue., Evergreen Park. The USATF-course winds through some of Evergreen Park’s prettiest streets. The race is professionally timed and awards will be given to the male and female overall finisher, and top three female and male runners in 10 age brackets.
Packet pick-up and in-person registrations are being taken at Running Excels, 10328 S. Western Ave. Chicago, during business hours Sept. 18 and Sept. 19.

Procrastinators can register on the day of the race when festivities begin at 11 a.m. Sept. 20.
The cost to participate is $30 for individuals and $25 per team mate. Kids under 12 are free.

The day features Laser Sounds DJ, kids activities, and awards ceremony. Stay afterward for Serenity’s “Recovery Rocks” post-race party at Jacob’s Well Church, 3450 W. Maple Ave., Evergreen Park, featuring free pizza, live music with The Tilt, water and pop, a sweets table, face painting and balloon animals and live Bears game streaming (maybe the Cubs can be put on). The post-race party is FREE TO ALL.
Proceeds will go toward Serenity Family Outreach’s programs, which provide resources, education and encouragement to families struggling with the disease of addiction. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of the month at the Evergreen Park Recreation Center, 3450 W. 97th St.
