Services Set for Former Chicago Ridge Mayor Eugene L. Siegel
Visitation and Mass set for Eugene Siegel, mayor of Chicago Ridge from 1975 to 2013.
Services are set for Eugene L. Siegel, the long-time mayor of Chicago Ridge who passed away Saturday in Florida. He was 84.
Siegel served as the mayor of Chicago Ridge from 1975 to 2013. Under his leadership, be brought sidewalks and a thriving shopping mall to the suburb. Siegel also helped organize the Chicago Ridge Fire Department and built a pumping station at the advice of fellow Mayor Ernie Kolb, in case Oak Lawn ever ran out of water.
Visitation is set from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Lawn Funeral Home, 7732 W. 159th St. in Orland Park

A funeral mass will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at Our Lady of the Ridge Church, 10811 Ridgeland Ave, Chicago Ridge.

Out of respect for the mayor emeritus’ passing, Chicago Ridge Village Hall will close at noon Friday, and will remain closed all day Saturday.
The Village of Chicago Ridge released a statement Sunday on its Facebook page
“Mayor Siegel served our Village for 38 years and without him Chicago Ridge would not be the great town that it is today. His kind and caring soul touched the lives of so many and for that we thank him,”
Residents also left condolences for the Siegel family, recalling “Mayor Gene” as the kind of guy who would stop and chat with you at Jewel or a local restaurant.
Siegel was the beloved husband of Linda (nee Wilkins) and the late Virginia (nee Dame) Siegel; loving father of Gary (Debbora), Janet (William) Kappel, Andrew (Laura Santoro) and Matthew Siegel; dear stepfather of John (Connie) Herring; cherished grandfather of Stephen, Bradley, Victoria, Alexandria and Abigail; dearest stepfather of Johnny and Liam; devoted son of the late Stella and Stanley Siegel, dearest brother of Jerome (Maryann) Siegel, Loretta (Raymond) Dubovik, the late Daniel and Patricia Siegel.
