
Shepard High School proudly announces that the students listed below graduated with the 10 highest grade point averages in the graduating class of 2022.
Each graduated with Honors with Distinction, the highest level possible in District 218, and earned Illinois State Scholar honors and qualified for National Honor Society.
Julia Alvarez – Vice president of Tri-M (music honors), saxophone section leader, and part of the command staff of the U.S. Air Force JROTC program, Julia participated in show choir, peer tutoring, peer mentoring, and combo band. She placed seventh in the nation in Advanced Word Processing at the Business Professionals of America national finals. Julia will study sociology at Northwestern University.

Natalia Bafia – A volunteer at Palos Community Hospital, Natalia participated in theater, Mathletes, student council and earned selection to National Honor Society for students of Spanish. She also taught Polish dance. She plans to study kinesiology at the University of Michigan.
Shea Fitzgerald – Drum major of marching band, captain of speech team, president of Business Professionals of America and Tri-M (music honors), Shea also served as secretary and treasurer for German Club. She also participated in book club, peer tutoring, improv, and spring musical. Shea will study business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Kelly Greene – Captain of the softball team who also competed in basketball, Kelly earned selection to National Honor Society for students of French. She has received an athletic scholarship for softball to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where she plans to study biology with an emphasis in exercise science.
Roxanne Habbal – A four-time conference doubles champion in tennis, Roxanne also competed in track and Mathletes. She served as president of NHS and qualified for NHS for students of French. She will study biology at the University of Iowa.
Linnea Marsh – Linnea competed in Scholastic Bowl, Business Professionals of America, and Mathletes and qualified for NHS for students of Spanish. She will begin studies in computer science at the University of Illlinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Gianna Spain – Gianna competed in basketball and volleyball, participated in Ecology Club and qualified for NHS for students of Spanish. She will study pre-medicine and play basketball at Bethany Lutheran College.
Omar Talaut –Captain of Scholastic Bowl, Omar competed in wrestling. He will attend Northwestern University this coming fall.
Alison Zemeckis – Captain of the swimming and water polo teams, Alison also competed in Mathletes. She will study nursing at Illinois State University.
