The varsity cheerleaders from Shepard High School won second place in the Co-Ed Division at the Niles West Sectional on Saturday. As a result the Astros qualified for the IHSA state finals this coming weekend.
They also add another chapter to the legacy: Shepard cheerleaders have qualified for state in 23 of the past 25 years, an incredible run.
Shepard graduate Nicole Staehlin serves as head coach.
