Victim in Bedford Park Walmart Shooting Had 'No Gang Affiliation': Brother
One person is in custody after the incident outside the store at 70th Street and Cicero Avenue Monday afternoon.

UPDATED, 4 p.m.: BEDFORD PARK, IL - A man who says he is the brother of the victim of Monday afternoon’s shooting outside the Walmart in Bedford Park says his family has no gang affiliation and may have been targeted based on mistaken identity.
Andrew Luna of Chicago’s West Englewood neighborhood told Patch his brother, who is 19, left home Monday morning to run a few errands, which included a stop at the Walmart at 7050 S. Cicero Ave. in the southeast suburb.
“He told me he was going to get some showering supplies and a toothbrush,” Luna said, noting that the next time he’d hear about his brother was a few hours later when he called their mother to tell her he had been shot in the face.

“We don’t know the extent of his injuries or much about what happened,” said Luna, who at 3:30 p.m. was in the process of finding childcare for his daughter so he can visit his brother in the hospital.
Media reports, including one from NBC-Chicago, have indicated the victim in the shooting was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and was in stable condition after the shooting. Luna said he was not sure which hospital his brother was taken to.

One person is in custody, according to reports. The two others, including the shooting victim, involved in the incident are hospitalized at Advocate Christ.
The shooting was reported in connection with an incident in which a victim was run over by a car in the same parking lot at the same approximate time. Photos surfaced of the damaged car, which Luna says is his brother’s 2003 beige Buick LeSabre.
Inside the Walmart, video surfaced on social media of customers being patted down and asked for identification. A shopper named Jorge Ramirez shared the scene on Facebook Live while it was happening. Find video from inside the store below.
