Small Fire Breaks Out at Burbank Police Station

Preliminary investigation reveals that fire may have originated in electrical outlet near in lower level locker room, police say.

BURBANK, IL -- A small fire broke out in the locker room of the Burbank Police Department Sunday evening was quickly extinguished by Burbank firefighters and other area fire departments.

The fire broke out in the lower level of the Burbank police station around 7:25 p.m. Polie said the fire was contained to a couple of lockers, but the building sustained heavy smoke and water damage. Fire damage was minimal, police said in a news release.

The Burbank Fire Department is investigating the fire, which seems to have originated near an electrical outlet inside a locker. Police said the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

There were no injuries and no arrestees within the building at the time of the fire. Clean-up of the building is underway.

Division Chief Mike Dudlo said the fire will not impede police functions as the communications and emergency operation systems were unaffected. Police operations are functioning normally.
