Images from the FBI-website BanditTrackerChicago show Damm with sunglasses perched on his head and hanging over the counter of the teller window at the PNC Bank branch, 4400 N. Broadway, in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. The suspect’s face, as well as his arm and neck tattoos, can be seen in the surveillance video.
According to the complaint, Damm is believed to have entered the bank around 10:56 a.m. Aug. 19, and was greeted by a teller -- identified as “Employee B” in the complaint -- who provided him with a bank slip.

After Damm went to the check writing table, the feds said, he went up to another teller’s window, identified as “Employee A.” There, he allegedly provided a demand note that read: “Give me your money or no one will get hurt. ASAP. No dye packs.”
As the teller began filling the bank envelope with U.S. currency, Damm said, “that’s enough,” the FBI alleged.
Damm took the envelope containing $702 and left the bank, according to the court complaint. Employees called 911. A Chicago Police evidence technician recovered the demand note.
“Employee B,” who greeted alleged robber when he walked into the PNC bank described the suspect as a white male aged 45 to 50, about six feet tall with a medium to large build, light blue eyes, blond hair, a raspy voice and with tattoos on his neck and arms.
“Employee A,” the teller who was robbed, further described the suspect as wearing sunglasses, a gray USA t-shirt, blue jeans, gray or white New Balance gym shoes and carrying a green shopping bag, the FBI said.
The next day, Aug. 20, the FBI said that a relative contacted the FBI’s Chicago field office and identified Damm as the suspect in the PNC bank robbery after seeing the image on a local news broadcast.
Damm’s photo was included in a photo array that was presented to both tellers. Employee A said that he/she was “80 percent certain” the man in the photo was Damm. Employee B identified Damm with “90 percent certainty,” the complaint said.
On Aug. 24, Damm surrendered himself to the FBI’s Chicago field office. According to the federal agent, Damm resembled the person in the bank surveillance photos.
The FBI said that Damm provided a statement identifying himself in the photos as the person robbing the bank.
