Southland Residents Line Up To See Oscar Mayer Wienermobile
Over 1,000 people line up to view the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile in Oak Lawn.
OAK LAWN, IL -- Over a thousand smiling Southland residents lined up to catch a glimpse of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile parked in front of Mariano’s. Hotdoggers Kelli Schulte and Cheyenne Herron, who have been enjoying the romance of the open road in a 27-foot-long hot dog, said it was one of the wienermobile’s biggest turnouts.
“We normally get around 200 but this is big,” Schulte said, a recent Iowa State University graduate. “We’ve served over 900 hotdogs.”
Some adults seemed more excited than the kids for the chance to get up close and personal with the wienermobile. Several adult men pestered the hotdoggers for whistles. Kids tossed bean bags and poked their heads through hotdog cutouts for photo ops in front of the big hotdog. Visitors were treated to free hotdogs, courtesy of Oscar Mayer.
