The Southwest Symphony Orchestra presents MAGNIFICENT CITIES

September 30, 2018 Season Opener concert

On Sunday, September 30, 2018, the Southwest Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of David L. Crane, presents their 2018-2019 SEASON OF MAGNIFICENCE season opener Magnificent Cities. Maestro Crane was the son of a foreign-service officer stationed in Munich, Germany – and later was a student at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He had the good fortune of visiting many European cities whose rich musical traditions are the source of much of what the SSO performs. Decades later he is returning to Europe with the SSO’s first concert of the season which includes New York and a surprise city! An exquisite slide presentation augments the performance.

Pieces performed include Overture to West Side Story by Copland, Wiener Blut by Strauss, A Foggy Day by Gershwin, Summer Night in Madrid by Glinka, La Vie Parisienne Overture by Offenbach, Down on the Moscow River by Mussorgsky, and an orchestra favorite, The Pines of Rome by Respighi.

  • The concert is located at Trinity Christian College's Ozinga Auditorium, 6601 West College Drive, Palos Heights.
  • Concert begins at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday September 30, 2018.
  • Ticket prices are $7.00 for students, $17.00 to $22.00 for seniors, adults $22.00 to $27.00, children 10 and under are free.
  • Parties of 10 or more may purchase tickets for $13.00 per person.
