OAK LAWN, IL -- Oak Lawn’s Junior Jordans and Eagles hit the court this Saturday, Jan. 13, for the ninth annual Special Olympics Basketball Day. The high school-aged Eagles and younger Junior Jordans will split their teams and square off against each other, with a half-time show presented by the Oak Lawn Pep Squad. Doors open at noon with opening ceremonies starting at 12:30 p.m. at Marist High School, 4200 S. 115th St., Chicago.

This is an inspiring afternoon where both teams will be not only be showing how well they can play the game of basketball, they'll be raising money for the special recreation programs that have been their lifeline to the community. In addition to being great athletes, they’re also great entertainers. Both Special Olympic teams have been practicing for the big game for weeks in anticipation of playing in front of a big crowd.

Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted at the door. While both teams will be playing in front of an enthusiastic crowd of friends and family, there are plenty of seats in the Marist gym for local residents to come out and cheer on the athletes for an experience they'll never forget.
