'Speed Racer' Leads Cops On 98 MPH Chase: Prosecutor
Hickory Hills police arrest accused 'Speed Racer' after he crashes into I-294 bridge.

HICKORY HILLS, IL — A Chicago man was arrested after he crashed his car trying to flee a traffic stop, prosecutors said. Trevon Kemp, 21, appeared before Cook County Judge John Mahoney on a felony charge of aggravated fleeing and eluding. Kemp is currently on probation for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Around 8:30 a.m. Dec. 1, a Hickory Hills officer tried to pull over a driver, later identified as Kemp, for speeding westbound on 95th Street, police said. According to the prosecutor, the officer positioned himself behind Kemp's vehicle and activated the patrol car's lights. Kemp allegedly continued driving, turning north on LaGrange Road with the officer in pursuit.
During the pursuit, the prosecutor said that Kemp drove 98 mph in a 35 mph zone. Kemp passed 87th Street as he continued north on LaGrange. The officer found Kemp after he had apparently crashed into the I-294 bridge at 79th Street. The vehicle suffered significant damage, including blown out windows and a smashed roof, the prosecutor said.
