St. Albert the Great School in Burbank IL has shown growth in many areas this school year. St. Albert’s is proud to announce that enrollment has increased by over 20% this year. This exciting news also comes on the heels of growth-based initiatives that are being led by the school. “A focus on building positive relationships with students, and identifying the specific needs of the students in our community, has increased the interest in our school and in our quality programming,'' says Principal McLawhorn.
The growth is not only visual but it’s also educational.
Our PreK program has expanded its offerings due to the high level of interest in our program. Our upgraded offerings currently include 2 classrooms providing five day options. In the past, one room was 5 day, and the other 3 day, which, due to the increased interest, we were able to offer a 2nd room as a 5 day option.

The interest in the PreK program has been growing because of the Frog Street curriculum, which is a new, researched based curriculum that supports our Personalized Learning program. One of the key elements of the personalized learning program is teacher one on one time with students, in order to build positive relationships that help students lead their learning.
St. Albert the Great is proud to announce that this year, they will continue their partnership with LEAP Innovations, who will once again provide quality professional development to our new and returning faculty as they continue to grow their Personalized Learning Program. This is now the third year into the multimillion grant that was received from the CME organization. This year the personalized program is fully implemented in all grades from PreK to 8th grade.
Excitedly, the most monumental growth reported, are the ACT/Aspire scores. ACT/Aspire is the standardized test that all students take in grades 3 through 8. The Archdiocese of Chicago has identified St. Albert the Great with a ranking of the highest performing school in the Archdiocese for growth to reading readiness. This #1 school ranking shows the intentional work that St. Albert is doing to increase rigor and to prepare students for 21st Century learning, is truly paying off.

“Preparing our students to take their skills and to use them in a positive way is our primary goal. We hope that our students will develop their critical thinking skills so that they may be true disciples of Christ, and go out into the world, solve real-world problems, in order to make our world a better place.” said Principal, Mrs. McLawhorn.
