St. Gerald School Hosts Open House, Jan. 31

St. Gerald School in Oak Lawn will kick off Catholic Schools Week with an open house this Sunday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Community residents are invited to tour St. Gerald’s, the oldest Catholic grammar school in Oak Lawn. St. Gerald offers a strong academic curricular program and numerous sports and clubs for PreK-8th grade students, half and full-day preschool for 3-4-year-olds, as well as an extended day program for before and after school care.

The recent addition of a brand new gym and multi-purpose facility provides a range of activities and sports for the school, as well as parish and community functions.

Those who cannot make the open house and are looking for a Catholic school for their children are invited to contact the school office to schedule a school tour at 708-422-0121.

Catholic Schools Week begins on January 31, has been an annual event since 1974. This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service.” Schools typically observe the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses, and other activities. It is estimated that Catholic schools save taxpayers $1 billion by lowering the number of students in overburdened public schools.
