Oak Lawn Police Issue 174 Seat Belt Citations During St. Patrick's Day Traffic Enforcement

OAK LAWN, IL—The luck of the Irish wasn’t with the 174 drivers who received seat belt citations during the Oak Lawn Police Department’s St. Patrick’s Day enforcement period from March 13 through March 23.

In addition, Oak Lawn police wrote the following citations:

  • 06 Child Safety Seat violations
  • 03 Distracted Driving citations
  • 19 Speeding violations
  • 11 other traffic and vehicle violation citations
  • 03 Traffic Arrests (No Driver’s License)
  • 01 Aggravated Speeding arrest

“We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason—to save lives,” said Lt. Nick Kumke, of the Oak Lawn Police Department. “Whether it’s alcohol, cannabis or another drug, impaired driving puts everyone at risk.”

Oak Lawn police joined forces with state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the St. Patrick’s Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Drive High. Get a DUI” enforcement campaign.

The safety effort was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
