Store Unaware It Sold Friday's Midday Winning Lottery Ticket

Gresham liquor store sells winning $200,000 Lucky Day Lotto ticket. Winner urged to come forward.

A Gresham liquor store was unaware that it had sold the winning Illinois Lottery ticket in Friday’s midday drawing.

Prestige Hoyne Liquor, 2043 W. 79th St., Chicago, sold the winning ticket that matched all five numbers -- 02, 05, 07, 13, 24 -- in the Lucky Day Lotto drawing. The store will receive a $2,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.

Store manager Sam Gavrilos was surprised to hear that Prestige Hoyne Liquor sold Friday’s midday winner and did not know if anyone from Illinois Lottery had contacted the store.

“I didn’t know, baby,” Gavrilos said. “I want the big $200 million winner, but I’ll take $2,000.”

Illinois Lottery officials urge the lucky winner to immediately sign the back of their ticket and keep it in a safe place until they visit one of the Lottery’s five price centers in Chicago, Des Plaines, Rockford, Springfield and Fairview Heights.
