STUDENTS MAIL CALL HONOR FLIGHT VETERAN

Students honor World War II Veteran

As part of the ILRP Tutorial at Oak Lawn Community High School, students can voluntarily gain service hours by taking part in projects. Teaching Assistant Eric Kelly’s friend, Tom Priestley, 90, took an Honor Flight from Midway Airport to Washington, D.C. on May 6, 2015. ILRP students had the opportunity to make cards for his “mail call” during the flight. The cards showed their appreciation for his service during World War II and wished him a great trip. In return, Mr. Priestley sent a card thanking them. He wrote, “It’s surprising to me that (the) students know so much about World War II and the impact it had on our country. Wonderful!”
