Suicidal Man Surrenders After Barricading Himself in Home: Alsip Police
Alsip police find no weapons in man's home, who will likely be charged with reckless conduct after he is released from the hospital.

Alsip police were able to talk a suicidal man into surrendering peacefully after he had barricaded himself in his home on Saturday evening.
Police responded to a report of a man threatening to commit suicide who had barricaded himself inside an apartment building in the 3900 block of 115th Place.
Pulaski Road from 111th Street to 115th Street and surrounding side streets were closed to traffic for about two hours on Saturday starting around 6 p.m.

The man’s girlfriend was also in the residence but was not a hostage.
“She was there willingly,” said Miller.

The situation was resolved peacefully around 8 p.m. when the man, identified as Jefferson Hoof, 58, was taken into custody. He was brought to Metro South Hospital for his own well being.
“There are no reported injuries to any citizens or officers,” Miller said. “No weapons were recovered.”
The incident drew a heavy police response with law enforcement from Oak Lawn, Merrionette Park, Bridgeview, Evergreen Park, Chicago, Cook County Sheriff Police and Illinois State Police assisting Alsip police.
Sheriff Tom Dart also sent the Cook County Hostage Barricade Team.
Miller said that Hoof would be charged with reckless conduct after he is released from the hospital.
