Students will be paid to attend class during 6-7 week course. Classes start Aug. 29.

Superior Ambulance is offering a career-ready course for students who wish to attain their EMT-Basic license. The accelerated course lasts 6-7 weeks and is designed to help students enter the emergency medical care field.

The course is ideal for recent high school graduates who aren’t ready for college but desire training for a challenging and meaningful career. The course runs from Aug. 29 through Oct. 14. Classes meet from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at Superior’s corporate headquarters at 395. W. Lake St., Elmhurst.

After completing the accelerated course, students will be ready to successfully complete the National Registry EMT-Basic Cognitive Exam and become a licensed Emergency Medical Technician-Basic.
There is no cost to students. Students will be paid $8.25 per hour to attend class. Once they attain their license, they will be transferred to an “EMT-basic position” where they will receive a pay increase. Students agree to stay with Superior for a year.
