Suspect Robs Walgreens With Ice Pick: Reports

Oak Lawn police apprehend alleged robber in early morning robbery of 24/7 Walgreens. Getaway driver also nabbed, according to reports.

Oak Lawn police apprehended a suspect who apparently robbed a Walgreen’s store early Monday morning.

A person reportedly armed with an ice pick walked into Walgreens, 4740 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn, sometime after 1 a.m. and robbed the store, according to reports.

The alleged robber fled the store into a car driven by a second person. No one in the store was injured.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle as it fled. The alleged suspect jumped out of the vehicle and was hiding out in some bushes in an apartment complex where he was caught in the 4300 block of West 95th Street. The ice pick was found nearby in the alley.

A witness inside Walgreens was brought to the scene where the alleged robber was apprehended and made a positive identification.

The driver of the vehicle was also arrested. The vehicle purportedly used in the robbery was also apparently apprehended on Kildare Avenue. The contents from the truck were dumped on the street as officers waited for a tow truck.

Walgreens was roped off with crime tape and the 24/7 store was temporarily closed as police officers collected evidence and took pictures inside.

Officers from Evergreen Park and Hometown assisted in the search for the suspects.
