Officers pull 2-foot sword out of cane found in Oak Lawn man's car during traffic stop, prosecutor said.

OAK LAWN, IL -- An Oak Lawn man was arrested after police found a stun gun and sword in his car during a traffic stop, prosecutors said. Jeffrey Gawlinski, 49, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Gawlinski was also cited with traffic violations.
According to the charges, police saw a car that made a right turn without using its turn signal around 7:30 p.m. May 10. Officers curbed the driver, later identified as Gawlinski, in the 4900 block of West 95th Street. As officers approached the car they could detect the smell of cannabis. When police asked if there were any weapons in the car, officers said Gawlinski replied no. Police looked inside the car where they saw a stun gun and cane in the front seat.
Officers removed a 2-foot sword from the cane. Gawlinski allegedly admitted that the stun gun and sword were his.
