Teen Admits Selling Pot to Raise Money for College Tuition: Prosecutors

Judge releases teen on I-bond, tells him "the days of wine and roses are over."

A Lemont teen who admitted to having cannabis in his car during a traffic stop told police that he was selling pot to raise money for college tuition, prosecutors said.

Jacob Etzkorn, 18, was charged with delivery of more than 30 grams of marijuana. Court records show Etzkorn was stopped around 3 a.m. June 10 by police who detected a strong odor of marijuana in the car.

An assisting K-9 unit found 26 grams of cannabis in a protein container inside the truck. Police also found small plastic bags used to hold marijuana, prosecutors said. Etzkorn allegedly said he was selling the bags for $20 each to help fund his college tuition.

Cook County Judge Peter Felice released Etzkorn on an I-bond, with conditions.

“The days of wine and roses are over,” Felice said. “You’re going to submit to urine drops. I’m going to assume you smoked some marijuana. If those levels don’t go down or I find that you smoked, I’m going to slip you a very high bond.
