Tuzik's Bakery Remains Open As Building Up For Sale

OAK LAWN, IL — A sign on the window of Tuzik's Bakery in Oak Lawn says the building is for sale, but plans are for the bakery to remain open until a buyer is found.

"We are open for business until someone comes in and buys the building," an employee told Patch this week.

Specializing in wedding and party cakes and offering everyday goodies as well, Tuzik's has been a staple at 4955 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn for decades. They've been a family-owned bakery for nearly 90 years, although a large portion of those 90 years was operated out of a different location.

The owners plan on selling the 95th Street space and retiring, so the only way the spot will remain a bakery is if that's the wish of the next owner. The building has been on-and-off the market for about three years.

But until a new owner is found, the bakery will remain in full operation.

"We are open, come on in," the employee said.

Tuzik's is open from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesdays through Saturdays.
