'Uninvited Guest' Smashes Flower Pot Over Ex-Girlfriend's Boyfriend's Head: Prosecutor

Prosecutors said man forced way through ex-girlfriend's boyfriend's front door after two fought in driveway.

ALSIP, IL -- A 19-year-old man was arrested after he smashed a flower pot over his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend’s head, prosecutors said.

Mikal Stevens appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a Class X felony charge of home invasion.

According to Alsip police, Stevens went to the home of his girlfriend’s current boyfriend uninvited on April 9, where the two engaged in a fight in the driveway.

When the boyfriend went back into the house, Stevens followed him to the front door and forced his way inside, prosecutors said.

Stevens allegedly smashed a ceramic flower pot over the boyfriend’s head, causing minor injuries.

Police caught up with Stevens a few blocks away from the scene, where he was taken into custody, according to the charges.

The prosecutor said that Stevens is currently on supervision for an attempted domestic battery charge in February. There is also an existing order of protection at the Alsip address.

The assistant public defender claimed that Stevens had a key to the residence.

The judge set bail at $150,000. Stevens is due back in court May 6 in Bridgeview.
