The couple’s 17-year-old daughter confronted Aguirre in the basement after hearing glass break. The 17-year-old managed to escape uninjured. She alerted her mother and the youngest daughter, 13, and all three were able to escape from the house, Bridgeview Police Chief Walter Klimek told the Chicago Tribune.

Aguirre confronted the father. After shooting him twice, Aguirre moved upstairs to the 27-year-old daughter’s bedroom where she fired multiple rounds at the woman, striking her in the head, arms and shoulders, police said.

After shooting both victims, Aguirre killed herself in the family’s kitchen.

“We are completing the formal investigation but we believe that this tragic violence is the result of a domestic dispute between two individuals, the attacker and one of the victims in the home,” Klimek said.

The suspect, Aguirre, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both of the victims, Deisy Jaimes, 27, and her father Enrique Jaimes, 52, are listed in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Deisy Jaimes is identified as an employee of a jewelry store in Orland Park. Aguirre is a Cook County correctional officer, police said.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said in a written statement that Aguirre was a four-year employee of the Cook County Jail’s intake division, where inmates are processed in and out of jail.

“The thoughts and prayers of Sheriff Dart and our staff are with the victims of this horrific tragedy,” the statement read.

Aguirre had also apparently been a recipient at one time of a community recognition award for “acts of compassion and kindness” in Berwyn.
