Video: Richards freshman Mia Palumbo wins Athlete of the Month
Chicago Tribune/Country Financial award includes $500 donation to Richards.
Yesterday teammates, family members, coaches and Richards High School staff members gathered as freshman Mia Palumbo received the Chicago Tribune/Country Financial Athlete of the Month Award for March.
Following her historic achievements at the IHSA Regional, IHSA Sectional, and IHSA state wrestling tournaments, Mia won the on-line poll for this award (which includes a $500 donation to Richards.)
A cool side note: Both the Chicago Tribune staff member (Mary Compton) and Country Financial representative (Kurt Husein) in attendance graduated from District 218.
Mary graduated from Richards and Kurt -- married to a Richards graduate -- graduated from Shepard.
