Village Offers Drive-Thru E-Waste Recycling At Oak Lawn Public Works
Safely dispose of your old electronics Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Oak Lawn Public Works Building.
OAK LAWN, IL — If old, unused appliances and computers are cluttering up your garage and basement, dispose of them in an environmentally-friendly manner at the Village of Oak Lawn’s quarterly electronic waste recycling event Saturday, Oct. 12. Items can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to noon at the public works building, 5550 W. 98th St.
This is a drive-thru event where volunteers will help unload items from your vehicle. Please note there is a $35 fee per TV and monitor. Payment will be accepted on site with an electronic debit card reader.
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: TVs, VCRs/DVDs, computers/laptops, monitors, printers, keyboards, inkjet/toner cartridges, video game consoles, internet/portable music players, cameras, cell phones, cell phones/telephone equipment, speakers/stereos, microwaves and holiday lights.

UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS: radioactive materials (smoke detectors), hazardous materials (oil, antifreeze, paint), non-electronics (tires, wood, insulation), and corrosives (batteries) and Fluorescent lights.
Getting rid of old electronics is one of the most often asked questions on neighborhood social media, so set your alarm clock. The next opportunity to safely dispose of your e-waste junk won't come around until next year. This event is for Oak Lawn residents only, and proof of residency may be required. The truck fills up fast so get there early.
