Visitation Planned Wednesday for Oak Lawn's Former 'First Lady,' Peggy Kolb
Visitation for Patricia "Peggy Kolb, wife of late Mayor Ernie Kolb, will take place at Curley Funeral Home.

Behind every great man is a woman, and the woman who stood staunchly by late Mayor Ernie Kolb’s side was his wife, Peggy.
Visitation for Patricia “Peggy” Kolb, wife of Oak Lawn’s late mayor, Ernie Kolb, will be held Wednesday (Dec. 16) from 3 to 9 p.m. at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th St., Chicago Ridge.
Ernie and Peggy Kolb were Oak Lawn’s “First Family” for the 26 years that Ernie served as mayor of Oak Lawn. Peggy passed away on Sunday.

Peggy was the loving mother of Gayle Kolb, Gary (Cathy) Kolb, the late Glenn, and Patti (John) Ernst; proud grandma of Jennifer, Jason, Corinne, Kathryn, and John; great-grandma of Jacob; dear sister of the late Joan (late Frank) Bulger and the late Joyce (Dave) McCabe. She was the fond and favored aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Peggy loved Oak Lawn as much as her husband did, and raised their family in the village. After her husband passed away, she was a regular at Stony Creek Golf Course where she played bridge every week with her lady friends.

In 2013, Peggy and her daughter, Patti, were interviewed by local historian Kevin Korst, offering their recollections of the 1967 Oak Lawn Tornado, a transcript of which can be accessed here.
A memorial Mass is planned for Jan. 8 at St. Gerald Catholic Church. Patch will have a more complete obituary at a later date.
