Walgreens to Roll Out Advocate Care Clinic in Oak Lawn

Oak Lawn, IL, May 17, 2016 -- Advocate Health Care is set to assume ownership of the health clinic currently operating out of one of Walgreens’ flagship stores in Oak Lawn this Wednesday.

Deerfield-based Walgreens sold its 56 health care clinics to Advocate Health Care, headquartered in Downers Grove ,in January . The retail clinics will function as part of Advocate and will strengthen care coordination for patients while also offering convenience and access to consumers.

The retail clinics, to be branded as Advocate Clinic at Walgreens, will roll out under the Advocate banner this month.

Advocate Clinic at Walgreens will be staffed with board-certified nurse practitioners employed by, trained by and supervised by Advocate Medical Group. Advocate’s intention is to attempt to hire its initial workforce from among the employees currently working at Walgreens clinic locations.

Physicals, vaccinations, travel immunizations, as well as treatment for a range of common illnesses and injuries, will offered. No appointments are necessary and walk-ins will continue to be served. Individuals do not need to be a current Advocate patient to receive care at an Advocate Clinic at Walgreens.

The retail clinics are designed to expand affordable health care options for patients in convenient neighborhood locations. Advocate will operate health care clinics at Walgreens stores in Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties.

Community leaders, health care officials, patients and providers will gather at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, to mark the opening of Advocate Clinic at Walgreens, 4740 W. 95th St. (95th Street and Cicero Avenue) in Oak Lawn.
