Warrant Sought for Alleged Cell Phone Robber On the Lam

Bridgeview police seek arrest warrant for Chicago man on armed robbery charge.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL -- Bridgeview police were in court Thursday seeking an arrest warrant for a man who allegedly robbed a cellphone store over Fourth of July weekend. Christopher Taylor, 20, is wanted on a charge of armed robbery. He is said to be on the lam since July 2.

The Bridgeview detective told Cook County Judge Peter Felice that officers responded to a call of an armed robbery around 11:55 a.m. July 2 at the Boost Mobile Store, 8508 S. Harlem Ave. Taylor allegedly walked into the store and began chatting with the employee behind the counter about switching services. After asking to look at refurbished phone, he asked the employee if she ever had a gun held to her head, the detective said.

Taylor went behind the counter and told the employee to get out of his way. He emptied phones from the glass display case into a backpack, the detective said. A witness saw what was happening and followed Taylor in his car. He was able to get a plate number for police. The employee didn’t see a gun displayed, but thought she might have seen a flash of silver in Taylor’s backpack, according to the detective.
