Was it just me or were other readers also outraged, horrified, appalled, and incensed about the article “Case against Deetjen continued” in the January 30, 2020 Reporter newspaper in which Deetjen’s attorney Michael Walsh admitted that he is seeking medical records on Mark Berkshire, the victim of the October 10th hit-and-run by Larry Deetjen, to see if Berkshire had alcohol in his system ‘when he walked into the street’? Wow. Our tax dollars, which the Village of Oak Lawn is spending on attorney fees to defend Deetjen, are now being used to try to dig up dirt and put the blame for the accident on the critically injured victim in the case! Outrageous! Walsh also asked that Deetjen be excused from future court dates during the discovery process. Really? I guess he must be too busy counting the $100K he got from the Village in his ‘retirement’ package to come to court. The judge, thankfully, denied Walsh’s request. All the more reason to really think hard about the people spending our tax money in the Village of Oak Lawn and speak with your vote!
