'We Warned You:' Oak Lawn Police Arrest 5 Drivers for DUI During Memorial Day Crackdown

Drunk driving arrests were down significantly in Oak Lawn during the Memorial Day crackdown compared to 2016.

OAK LAWN, IL – Results are in from Oak Lawn’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Memorial Day holiday crackdown on drunk drivers. Compared to 2016, which saw 16 drunk driving arrests during the same holiday period, Oak Lawn police stopped and arrested five drivers under suspicion for driving under the influence.

The crackdown ran from May 15 through May 30. Officers also cited 162 seatbelt violators and numerous other traffic infractions.

“We warned partygoers not to drink and drive, and we backed it up with aggressive enforcement,” said Sgt. Mike Acke, traffic unit supervisor for the Oak Lawn Police Department.
